6M: Half Naked
Hand Sketched Art Print
Music and art. I do not consider myself by any means a sketch artist. However, I cannot always resist the urge to attempt to express with my own hands what I see. In this sketch, I seek to reflect my gratitude for my music talent and the degree to which I have been able to develop it. This is no accurate rendering, but my alto is a 1936 Conn 6M. This horn is a testimony in itself. At the time this horn came into my life, I was seriously considering giving up music altogether. I had told God that If music got in the way of His agenda, I did not want to play another note. Music was my Isaac. As much as I love it and believe it to be a basis for any legacy of prominence in my life, I did not, do not, want anything to get in the way of what God is doing. I really wanted what would become This horn found me. Much has since happened to reaffirm God's intention that music is a gift He intends to use. I do not know how, when where or to what extent, but I know I can trust Him.
The title is based on one of the nicknames for this horn. It is called "The Naked Lady" because of the stenciling of a woman in a diamond-shaped window. This piece is "Half Naked" because it is only half colored.
Everything in this sketch is a deliberate choice. The blank background, the crop, the positioning, all are a deliberate choice.
